Dexel, a division of the Lawen Group, is a family owned design-build development firm located in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Dexel oversees the operations of Dexel Developments Limited and Dexel Architecture, managing all aspects of project development from preliminary design to the final building commissioning and occupancy phase.

Summary Description:

Responsible for providing administrative support to the project team in the field to ensure the construction site operates efficiently and safely through to completion. Facilitates document preparation and distribution, schedules and coordinates all onsite work activity.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate maintain, and distribute current records of drawings, change order notices and daily reports
  • Assist in maintaining a secure job site to ensure requirements of the company and Occupational Health and Safety Act are met
  • Support overall coordination of site operations by assisting with numerous clerical duties including journal entries, collection of timesheets and office maintenance
  • Maintain and manage an accurate and comprehensive file and purchase order system in accordance with accounts payable procedures
  • Schedule and facilitate all site deliveries including generation of purchase order and verification of content upon receipt
  • Organize, schedule and take site meeting minutes with stakeholders 
  • Responsible for coordination completion of deficiencies and resolutions with trades
  • Monitor and track site equipment including rentals and tool procurement

Education / Training:

  • Construction relation degree/diploma and/or
  • Construction Management Technologies Diploma
  • PMP designation

Related Experience:

  • Two years’ experience in a construction environment 
  • Document management 
  • Technical understanding of multi-unit residential (apartment or condos) construction 

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Excellent computer skills including:
    o MS Outlook, MS Project, MS Excel
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents
  • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations
  • Safety training including Fall Arrest, WHMIS, and First Aid
