Dexel looks forward to continuing to bring more vibrancy while establishing sustainability to its Halifax portfolio. We are looking to add a Site Superintendent for our next development.  

Role Description
Responsible for oversight of new construction of multi residential concrete buildings managing trades and onsite activities to ensure quality work is completed safely and on time. Direct sub-contractors and other construction related personnel in the planning, coordinating and executing of construction work. Onsite activities include security, scheduling, cost control, as well as work methods, and quality control. 

Core Responsibilities

  • Direct day to day management of site staff team which includes supervision, training, scheduling, performance management and mentoring 
  • Provide overall management including cost control and schedule maintenance in conjunction with subcontractors, owners, engineers and architects 
  • Ensure site activities adhere to company operation standards 
  • Assist in preparation of project schedule based on staffing requirements, material needs, and access to trade and equipment 
  • Coordinate all subcontractors, suppliers and utilities 
  • Inform design team of errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within drawings 
  • Uphold a safe job site to ensure requirements of the company and Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced 
  • Maintain and enforce good construction standards and quality control 
  • Coordinate all required inspections 
  • Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists 
  • Maintain a professional and organized site office  
  • Monitor and support project progression through effective leadership and planning 

Education and Training: 

  • Engineering or Construction related degree/diploma
  • Construction Management Technologies Diploma  
  • ​​​​​​​PMP Designation 

Related Experience: 

  • Ten years independent construction site management of multi-unit high rise projects 
  • Concrete construction and design-build projects  
  • Estimating and project coordination  

Skills / Knowledge:

  • Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Project, MS Excel 
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations
