Dexel looks forward to continuing to bring more vibrancy while establishing sustainability to its Halifax portfolio. We are looking to add a Special Projects Manager to help our team achieve this.

Summary Description:

Identify and manage construction ventures across company portfolio that are characterized as special projects including capital improvements, retrofits and major maintenance. Responsible for technical and administrative duties related to the project. Manage all construction activities including close out and handover.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall management of small projects including cost control and schedule maintenance in conjunction with subcontractors and stakeholders
  • Estimate material requirements to generate project scope, budget, procurement details
  • Coordinate tendering process including research of contractors, suppliers and vendors, invitation to tender, collection of quotations
  • Schedule inspections of projects sites at appropriate intervals to ensure project progression
  • Uphold a safe job site to ensure requirements of the company and Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced
  • Prepare and manage expenditures and project budgets
  • Conduct inspections of workmanship to maintain quality control
  • Secure project close-out documents including as-built drawings, warranties, maintenance programs, manuals, inspection reports and certifications to turnover to stakeholders

Education / Training:

  • Engineering or Construction related degree/diploma
  • Construction Management Technologies Diploma
  • PMP Designation

Related Experience:

  • Managing construction projects
  • Capital planning, maintenance, and/or renovation projects
  • Estimating and project coordination

Skills / Knowledge

  • Excellent computer skills including MS Outlook, MS Project, MS Excel
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and documents
  • Comprehensive knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations
